I observe interview boards and note where qualified candidates fail the job interview. I created Interview Ready to help you understand and avoid those failure points.

Job offers don't always go to the best-qualified candidates, they often go to the candidate who presents the best case for their candidacy by coming across as credible and memorable.

Most competitors tell you to think of questions you may be asked, or give you a long list of common questions and you pick.

Interview Builder allows you to build a targeted set of job-specific interview questions for each job you are apply for (about 10 minutes).  You identify your best examples and practice your answers to the job-relevant questions.

The follow-up questions help you pull out the rich details interviewers need to feel confident in selecting you.  It's a game-changer!

Take the Free Assessment and see the topics I address.  If you are confident you know each topic, you are extremely well prepared.

If you are unsure or don't understand the topics in detail, then Interview Ready can be a huge help!  Avoiding simple mistakes is a key part of having a great interview.

I give you my very best advice on what to do, what not to do, and how to stand out from the competition. I want you to succeed, live your best life and get the most out of your career!

To stand out you need to understand what the company does, their customers, what challenges they are experiencing, and what is being said about them in the news.

Employers take notice when a candidate can tell them a lot about their organization.  They realize you did your homework (shows motivation), know how you can add value, and are excited to join them.

Interview Ready will help you identify the information you need to know to stand out.  Remember, your answers should clearly demonstrate what you can do for the employer, not what they can do for you.

Another way to stand out is to ask great questions at the end of the interview. Unfortunately, untrained candidates miss a great opportunity to stand out.

Users have told us that the Interview Builder tool was extremely helpful in building their confidence.  It allowed them to create job-specific interview packets and practice their interviewing skills out loud.

The follow-up questions helped them provide the rich details employers needed to hear to feel confident extending a job offer.

Interview Ready can help you draw out your best examples and build your confidence!

  • The candidates do not know how to prepare and try to “wing it.”
  • They can’t mention at least three items listed in the job description.
  • They do not ask about the interview format when they get the interview invitation.
  • They do not know how to create a favorable impression during the first minute.
  • They do not realize the interview started with the interview invitation.
  • They do not know the best way to answer, “Tell me a little about yourself.”
  • They do not understand biases and how to read the interviewer(s).
  • They do not know how to engage the interviewer(s).
  • They do not know how to read the job description to identify interview topics.
  • They don't connect their skills to job requirements.
  • They provide “canned answers” and come across as fake.
  • They do not ask great questions at the end of the interview.
  • Their thank-you notes are generic and fail to offer a solution to the employer's key challenges.

Today’s interviewers are trained. Leaders understand the importance of adding high performers and avoiding hiring mistakes that could bring legal action. Organizations large and small understand that the people they hire directly impact their success or failure.

Trained interviewers target 3 areas; can you do the job, will you do the job (motivation), and will you fit (with their culture, team, and management style)? Untrained interviews tend to go over your resume and ask hypothetical questions. Understanding how to excel in both is your competitive advantage.

Recruiters are excited to speak with you.  They are looking for a fit with your background and the job opening.

Interview Ready can help you prepare rich, detailed answers and clearly demonstrate that you are a good fit for their job opening.

Use Interview Builder (included inside Interview Ready) to build a set of job-specific interview questions based on situations and tasks listed in the job description.

Identify your best examples for each situation and task and practice your answers out loud.

The more you can show how you fit the job requirements, the greater the chances of being invited for a formal job interview.

Review the additional tips in the chapter on Working with a Recruiter.

You have a lot of transferable skills that you acquired during your time at school, you just weren’t being paid.

You met deadlines, wrote reports, essays, made compelling arguments, made decisions that impacted your assigned projects, led teams, designed ad campaigns, etc.

Interview Ready's Interview Builder tool lets you build job-specific Behavioral and traditional interview questions and practice you answer out loud.

Stop wasting time answering random questions. Interview Ready can help your confidence soar!

Moving into a senior leadership role involves demonstrating proficiency with a set of management competencies. Interview Ready for Managers/Executives includes those competencies and targeted behavioral interview questions to help you anticipate the questions and identify your best example for each.

Ageism is real. Today, ageism starts around 45. Mature workers need to prepare and answer the “hidden” questions that may be in the back of the mind of the recruiter or hiring manager.

For example, an untrained interviewer may ask a younger worker “how long do you plan to work here?” and ask a mature worker, “how long do you plan to keep working?” Notice the subtle difference?

The astute job seeker needs to tell the interviewer that they applied for this job because they are passionate about it and how they plan to add maximum value to the organization (knowledge, mentoring, contacts, etc.) as well as working effectively for a younger manager. Understanding and overcoming this pitfall is the key to landing a job as a mature worker.

Take the FREE Assessment. The Assessment questions will help you identify the topics you need to research. Interview Ready offers my 20+ years of insight training employers on how to hire. The advice is tested and used by leading global employers.

Interview Ready took two years to develop. You get the best possible advice. Interview Ready includes video clips of career advisors from elite universities including MIT, Harvard, Williams College, and others as well as advice from hiring managers and recruiters from global firms.

The cost of Interview Ready is approximately the cost of one day’s wages. If Interview Ready can decrease your job search by just one day, it has paid for itself. U.S. job seekers should check with their accountant since many job search expenses are fully tax-deductible.

Another reason for using Interview Ready is that you may be competing against a national or even a global pool of job applicants since many jobs offer remote work. You need the advantage Interview Ready can give you.

Not preparing can cost you job offers.  According to a Glassdoor report, a corporate job opening can attract 250+ resumes.  Out of these 4-6 candidates will be interviewed and only 1 will be hired.

Untrained interviewers tend to ask traditional questions such as
• Why are you the best person for the job?
• Why should I hire you?
• Where do you see yourself in five years?
• How would you handle a problem customer?

Interview Ready teaches you how to answer those questions with real examples from your education and/or experience. To win, you need to be credible and memorable.

Providing real stories to hypothetical questions removes any doubt and helps you stand out. The other thing that happens is that you become memorable and stand out above the competition. Employers hire people who they feel confident can do the job, will do the job, and will fit in.
